Privacy Policy
Short version: we use your info to get popcorn seasoning to your door and, if you ask us to, to send you emails. We don't sell it. The long version is below.
Who we are
Dead Kernelz Society is a brand of Not Just Popcorn Inc. (“DKS,” “we,” “us,” “our”), which runs deadkernelz.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Shipping and billing addresses
- Order details, like what you bought and when
- Your account login, if you create an account
- Your email address (and first name, if you share it) when you sign up for our emails
- Anything you send us through our contact form, by email or on social media
Payment information
Card details are entered into and processed by our payment processor, Stripe. That includes payments made with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. We never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- IP address
- Browser type and version, and device type
- Pages you visit and how long you stay
- How you found us, such as the website or campaign link you came from
- Cookies and similar technologies (see below)
How we use your information
- Orders: to take payment, pack and ship your order, and send order and shipping emails.
- Customer support: to answer your questions and sort out any problem with an order.
- Your account: to run your account and any Society Member benefits it carries.
- Emails: to send news, new flavors and offers, only if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Making the Site better: to see what’s working, fix what isn’t, and keep the Site running smoothly.
- Security: to prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
- Legal: to keep the records we need for tax, accounting and other legal requirements.
How we share your information
We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with companies that help us run the shop, and only what they need to do their job:
- Payments: Stripe, which processes card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link payments.
- Email: Postmark, which delivers our order emails and newsletters.
- Shipping: the carriers that deliver your order, which get your name, address and, when they need it, your phone number.
- Hosting and store software: the servers and the WooCommerce software that run the Site.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or merger of our business.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use them to:
- Keep items in your cart and get you through checkout
- Keep you logged in to your account
- Remember how you found the Site
- Help Stripe spot and stop fraudulent payments
We don’t use third-party advertising cookies right now. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first. Some parts of the Site, such as fonts or embedded videos, may load from other companies’ servers, which can see your IP address. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout won’t work without them.
Emails from us
When you place an order, we email you about it, like your receipt and shipping updates. Marketing emails go out only if you signed up for them. Every one has an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, we keep a note of your address so we don’t email you again.
How long we keep your information
We keep order records for as long as we need them for tax and accounting. Account information stays until you ask us to delete your account. Newsletter sign-ups stay until you unsubscribe.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections across the Site. No website or online transfer is 100% secure, though, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you the personal information we have about you
- Correct or update it
- Delete it, unless we have to keep it for legal reasons (like order records for taxes)
- Stop sending you marketing emails (or just click “unsubscribe”)
Depending on the state you live in, you may have more rights under your state’s privacy law. To make a request, email hello@deadkernelz.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll never treat you differently for asking.
Kids
The Site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Other websites
The Site links to other sites and services, like Instagram, TikTok and our payment processor. We’re not responsible for their privacy practices, so check their policies too.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
